My Letter
To Whom It May Concern,

I just read the article regarding the Teacher Wendy Portillo, who had the students in her kindergarten class vote out a member of her class. This young man,Alex Barton, is awaiting a diagnosis as to whether or not he has Aspergers Syndrome or not. But, whether or not he does should not be the issue. She caused this young child mental stress and emotional pain by putting him through a popularity contest that ended in his exclusion. Frankly, teachers should never put a child through such. If she had any concerns as to his presence in the class she should have talked with his parents and school officials. I feel that her status as a teacher should be revoked. There is no reason ever to do this to a child. A five year old child. He will carry this with him for the rest of his life and if he is autistic it will be even worse for him. Please remove her from a situation where she has the ability to shape and affect young minds.
