Riding On A Viking Ship....

So Friday I went for a ride on what you would call a 'modified' reconstructionist Viking ship. Yup. It looked pretty darn close, but, had a motor aboard for those 'unexpected' situations. And a good thing too. Because at the end of the day we used it. It made us able to get out the last time around. Though it did cause a problem for one of the women who went out earlier in the day as she breathed the fumes from the gasoline and it caused her to have such an asthma attack that she had to go to the hospital. :( Poor thing.

The ride itself was fantastic! I haven't been on a ship of any kind since I was 13 years old. And the first thing I noticed when I got on the ship was the smell... It was wonderfully fragrant. I was in ecstacy. The next thing was all the birds that were in the sky at various times. We got to see tons of birds... And of course the movement of the ship on the water was so relaxing, we sailed back to harbor. The sail was HUGE, and it had a battle raven painted on it. The whole experience was just wonderful. I have to say it really was. Yeah baby! I want to do it again and again and again. I think I'm hooked. Really.

The other night when I did my Friday night blot I honored Njord,AEgir and Ran for the joy I had on the ship too. You bet I did. My clothes still smell like the ship and the water too because I took them off as soon as I got home. Yesterday I put them back on, and I enjoyed the lingering smell of the experience. You bet I did. :)

Did I mention I love The Lost Vikings who supplied the experience? Yes oh yes I do. :)

Jimmy Buffet Says:

151. There's damsels in distress out there and we got all this beer; we'll free them from their condos and bring them over here.

Wow, and if I had just checked this out before writing about yesterday it would have fitted together perfectly. It was so funny, when we saw off K on her first boat ride A said, "Have fun storming the castle." And at that moment I had a total Monty Python moment. So help me Gods I did. It was great. :D Yup. When we pulled out ourselves we decided we were going to go off and 'pillage a nunnery' as it were. So much fun, oh just so much fun. But not a beer in sight. Though not say there weren't some that had been poured into drinking horns, I wouldn't put it past anyone... I honestly only really saw soda cans. Responsible shipmen and women... Don't drink and sail folks, it's just not good! The first round of people that went out on the boat were 2/3 men and only 1/3 women and the second round(that I went out with) was just the reverse of that. So fun, oh just so much fun to be had. I know I sound like a newly made convert or something and maybe I am... Converted to the life aboard a modern recon ship... But still. I have always loved the water and you aren't gonna change that now... I mean come on, I'm 39 and a pisces for all of that. Yeah. If only there were a damsel in distress that I could rescue or something.

The good thing is, that the woman who had the asthma attack was taken to the hospital by the firemen who were there and was released before very long at all. Just so you know. We were 'prepared' recons. Yes oh yes we were. :D

Anyway I'm off for now... I'm sure you'll hear more babble later in the day or some such. But for now it's all good and I think I've got this out of my system or some such. I'm gonna get to go out to breakfast and pick up some things... Mom's b-day present for one. Yay!
