Catching Up
My youngest son turned 18 which was a while back... but I didn't get to see him until this weekend... Ok, that kind of was disappointing. At least until I saw him. Realize that I got him the most badass present possible. Last weekend I went to the Viking Festival with a friend, and while there I ran across those hunting horns that are made from cow horns... Imagine the one in Lord of the Rings... Only not as fancy. Yeah, that kind of hunting horn. That's what I ended up getting my son for his b-day. Am I not cool? He certainly thought so. Much more cool than giving him money which had been what I was going to give him. I really don't like giving cash. Not at all.
He in turn gave me the most badass Mother's Day present ever. A while back he went to Disney Land while on a Band Trip. Yup. While there he went to Epcot Center. Go him, go me. What do you think he found while there? They had the coolest thing ever. In the Norway section they had replicas of the Thor Statue that is seated and holding onto its beard. Yup, made out of resin, but looks like metal. So very, very cool. So he bought me one and brought it back in time for an early Mother's Day. Rock! I've wanted a Thor Statue for years and have never got one yet due to price etc. So this is truly the Cat's Meow. Yup.
Recently I've been getting out of the house more and attending more public stuff... There is a Pagan Discussion Group called A Gathering Of Paths that meets within walking distance of my house so I go to that twice a month. And I am making the Lore and Rune Study Groups public! Yes I am. I moved them out of the house and now they meet at the Resource Center just a few streets over. The point is so that more people will be able to learn. I think it's a good thing. We shall see. I don't have to pay for the space which is awesome :D
I also have been attending some local pagan oriented meetups and enjoying them. All this has been very nice in that I don't just sit around wondering what I'm doing in the evenings(like I ever really did)and I'm doing a bit more than concentrating specifically on Heathen oriented issues... I sometimes think I've gotten a bit stratified, so this helps in that respect. Though I do worry that I'm going to get over-committed on time etc. and then my head will just explode. We shall see.
I'm very excited about going to KY as the days get closer... I ordered soap today so that I can make host gifts for folks, as well as just have nice things for those I haven't seen in 'forever'. Which I am very excited about. Yup.
Today I bought my outfit for my youngest son's Graduation from High School.Sheesh, I can't believe that both my sons will be in college come fall. Go them, go us!
I also gave mom her Mother's Day present today and she loved it... I made a new wreathe for her, which was a 'vine' wreathe with cinnamon sticks, silk flowers that had been glue gunned to it, and some mini-baskets that had been wired in as well as some nice lace that went round and about it and a cat that hung from it and says "Welcome". She told me the funniest story about the last wreathe I made for her which had been all silk flowers that had been woven through it... Apparently it had attracted tons of birds and they had 'nested' in it, so she had to do away with the wreathe... I guess my wreathes are comely to wildlife... Go figure. She was very happy that this one was so homey and modest. :D
lokiswench made me the coolest purse! It's all camo and cacky(sp?) and has pockets and snaps shut... It is the Odin purse! Yes it most certainly is... I wore it out today when I went out with mom and wore camo from head to toe(well almost toe, I didn't wear my camo sneakers because they are a different color camo than everything else was). Mom commented on how well coordinated my outfit was. She totally fell in love with my purse and went on and on about how
lokiswench should go pro and make stuff on commission. I agree with her btw.
Mom and I went to the China Garden Buffet for lunch today because mom had a coupon(this is the way we do things a good portion of the time)and this is the one Chinese buffet that I can eat at as it is MSG free. Mom was totally bowled over by the number of choices on the buffet, because frankly it has a TON of food. We had a grand time of it and she was also really amazed to see me eating meat(of course)as she is still getting used to it. I didn't eat any seafood on the buffet because I've eaten it all like a hundred times plus... After all I've been going there for years and that was all I could eat. It was so cool to try the other stuff on the buffet. And yummy too.
All in all life is going along at quite a rapid pace. So, that's pretty much that. Yup.
